Please follow procedures, says councillor

COMMENT ON SEWAGE ISSUE

IN response to the letter published on the Alberton Record’s website on Friday, June 30, “Sewage running down roads a serious problem”, I would like to update the residents on the situation.

When responding to my questions submitted for written reply, Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Water, Sanitation and Energy, Clr Tiisetso Nketle stated that in the financial year 2013/14 to date the department started to attend to hot spot areas.

MMC Nketle indicated that in this financial year the department is appointing consultants to do designs for the upgrade and rehabilitation of all sewer network systems for the city.

I would like to encourage residents to continue following the procedures set out to report issues in the area when it comes to sewer blockages.

As the ward councillor, I continue to drive for a permanent solution by interacting with the relevant officials and the MMC to ensure that the issue with the sewer is being addressed.
