ANC targets service delivery in Gauteng

JOHANNESBURG – Speaking to journalists at Auckland Park on Friday May 9, the African National Congress (ANC) thanked the people of Gauteng for entrusting the party with another term in office.

ANC Chairperson Paul Mashatile said, “In the next five years we seek to serve the people of Gauteng as they have requested from us. They have given us the mandate, and we aim to see it through.”

Contrary to polls before the elections, the ANC won the province with 53.59 per cent of the votes, followed by the Democratic Alliance (DA) on 30.78 percent. New comers Economic Freedom Fighters under the leadership of Julius Malema received 10.30 per cent of the votes.

African National Congress (ANC) – 55.07 per cent

Democratic Alliance (DA) – 29.05 per cent

Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) – 10.61 per cent

Vryheidsfront Plus (VF Plus) – 0.93 per cent

Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) – 0.91 per cent

Official results will be announced at 18:00 this evening (Saturday May 10)
