Crack in car theft syndicate’s armour

GOOD WORK, BOYS: Ajay Pretorius, Johan van Eden, Jonny Meyers and Neville Badenhorst who did the hard work to apprehend the suspect.

FOX Security has apprehended one suspect who is thought to be part of a crime syndicate that the Hawks have been investigating for quite some time.

At 04:02, on Wednesday, March 1, Fox Security’s reaction team received a call-out from one of their guards, who told them four suspects tried to grab him from the site where he was posted, but he managed to get away.

The reaction team arrived on site and chased the suspects from Randhart. Three of the suspects jumped from the vehicle in Borax Street, Alrode, and disappeared into the vast industrial area.

The driver of the car (silver Audi A6) was chased to Delphinium Street in Brackenhurst, where he jumped out and ran into the veld. But the reaction team chased him down, apprehended him and handed him over to the police.

The police arrested the driver for possession of suspected stolen property that was found in the car.

The suspect (36) appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, March 2.

It was later discovered that the suspects were allegedly attempting to steal a Volkswagen Polo, which alerted the Hawks.

They have taken over investigations, as this may be the work of a syndicate. The suspects’ modus operandi fits, as do many of the tools found in the car, which seems to support the syndicate theory.
