Alberton FC celebrates 50 years

THAT'S USING YOUR HEAD: A player tries to score via a header.

ON Saturday, February 25, the Alberton Football Club celebrated its 50th year by paying homage to their legends, past leaders and administrators.

FOR THE LOVE OF FOOTBALL: The AFC Legends and the AFC Seniors.

“Without their massive contribution to football and our club we would not be in the position we are today. We thank you all for your efforts over the 50 years of AFC’s existence,” said Silvie de Abreu, from the club.

“To everyone who holds this club close to their hearts, we thank you for your support and passion. Be proud that you have been part of something great. May the pride, honour and passion we have had for the past 50 years continue for years to come,” she added.

The AFC Legends and the AFC Senior players faced off in a match to celebrate half a century of soccer at the club that not even the rain could put a damper on.

GOOD SAVE: One of the goal keepers denies the opposition a goal.

The Seniors took the game with a score of 4-3.
