Vlei can’t cope with more traffic

How many residents in South Crest are aware of a six storey complex with some 650 flats to be erected in Vlei Street?

To be more specific, as you turn left out of Voortrekker Street into Vlei Street, you cross a stream and on the left is a small triangular piece of ground. Vlei Street is a narrow road with five other roads coming into it. There is no space to widen Vlei Street to cope with increased traffic.

Apparently there was a small notice about the development on the fence. It was so small that you had to get out of your car to read it. The notice has since disappeared.

Can you imagine the chaos in the morning and afternoon when some 600 plus cars need to turn into and out of Vlei Street? Travelling in and out of Alberton via Voortrekker Street is already a nightmare during peak hours. Another 600 plus vehicles using the Voortrekker Street/Vlei Street intersection will frustrate motorists even more.
