THE hard work of two detectives at the Eden Park Police Station finally paid off when a suspect in a murder case was convicted for a murder committed 15 months ago.

The suspect, Nkosiyomzi Kenneth Sicwebu (39), appeared in the Palm Ridge Magistrate’s Court for a murder committed on New Year’s Day 2016 in Palm Ridge Extension Eight. The suspect was found guilty by the presiding magistrate and sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment on Tuesday, April 4.

“The suspect was arrested in January 2016 for stabbing his friend twice in the chest on suspicion that he was cheating with his girlfriend. The friend, Edward Mokhohlane (50), died on the scene and we immediately arrested the suspect,” said Sergeant Wonder Banger.

Sergeant Banger further reported that the suspect was denied bail and remained in prison until April 4, when he was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment.
