New ambulances for Ekurhuleni

THE FLEET: The City of Ekurhuleni's new ambulances.

The City of Ekurhuleni officially launched 36 brand new ambulances and seven primary response vehicles worth a total of R34 million on August 26.

This new addition will intensify quality rescue and emergency medical services requirements within the city.

The executive mayor of the City of Ekurhuleni, Clr Mzwandile Masina, officially presented the vehicles to the hundreds of community members who attended the function held in Leon Ferreira Fire Station in Boksburg and the city at large.

After the official reception of the keys and inspection by the executive mayor, red lights and blaring sirens celebrated the new fleet.

The 36 brand new ambulances and seven primary response vehicles are ready to operate immediately.Councillors, led by community safety department`s member of the mayoral committee (MMC), Clr Vivian Chauke, acting head of the department Mr Masibi and all other municipal officials including the community, all welcomed the new fleet with enthusiasm.

The emphasis is on the sustainability of quality service delivery and improved and quicker response time to medical emergency calls.

After the launch, the vehicles were handed over to the 29 station managers who then drove them away to their respective stations to start the operation with immediate effect.
