WATCH: Alberton’s own leads in innovation on TV show

LEADER OF THE PACK: Dean Fegen relays something to one of his workers in his workshop.

A LOCAL businessman is making Alberton proud with his participation in a popular local television show.

Dean Fegen is taking part in Cell C’s Hangman, a show that pits innovators against each other and sets them challenges.

The show shares similarities with Shark Tank and The Apprentice.

GOLF DAY: A poster for one of the golf days that Fegen has organised.

Fegen beat out thousands of others to make it to the top 50, then the top 10, and now stands a chance of winning R1-million should he win the competition.

Aside from being a business owner in Alberton (Alrode), Fegen also does plenty of charity work and coaches a children’s soccer team.

He has also started initiatives such as Made in SA Boet, which is aimed at promoting local business, networking and keeping resources within Alberton and South Africa.

COACH: Dean Fegen with some of the children he coaches in soccer.

The passionate innovator created the polyhammer, which got him selected for the show.

The hammer is made from a polymer that can withstand an immense amount of force without breaking. It can replace several other types of hammers and mallets at a fraction of the cost.

“My passion is people and the community, supporting local manufacturing and employment,” says Fegen.
