Credence College celebrates Mandela Day by feeding the less-fortunate

SPREADING CHEER: Some people had their day made when the kind learners and staff of Credence College gave them food.

CREDENCE College celebrated Mandela Day on July 18 by holding a soup kitchen for some less fortunate people in Brackendowns and Brackenhurst.

The staff and learners involved themselves by making and serving soup and bread from 11am to 2pm.

ALL TOGETHER: The learners with the happy meal recipients.

A staff member drove around and searched around the neighbourhood for people on street corners who were looking for work, who could use a warm meal.

“We spread the word and gave many people lifts to our school at 140 Hennie Alberts Street where we fed them,” said Vivien Mumford, principal of Credence College.

PREPPING THE SOUP: A teacher and learner help each other dish up some delicious soup for the hungry folks outside.

“It was a heart-warming experience for both the staff and learners of Credence College. Of course it was also a tummy-warming experience for the many people we served!”
